What’s EMV Contactless Card

: EMV Contactless cards can be used to pay for fares on the MRT Pink Line System as the following detail:

  • Credit card from every Thailand bank issuer and every International bank issuer under VISA or MasterCard brand.
  • Debit card from every International bank issuer.
  • Debit PromptCard from Krungthai bank / UOB bank only for Thailand bank issuers under VISA or MasterCard brand.
Travelling transit between MRT Pink Line and other train service providers
  1. Upon arrival at the destination station for the exit, bring the same EMV Contactless card used to enter the system at the origin station. If do not use the same EMV card with entry when exit the system, the penalty will be fined at the maximum fare rate of 45 Baht for each card.
  2. Passenger traveling between MRT Pink Line and MRT Purple Line will receive a discount for the entry fee (15 Baht) as follow conditions:
  • Passengers who exit the MRT Purple Line, Nonthaburi Civic Center Station (PP11) and use the same EMV card, entry the MRT Pink Line System, Nonthaburi Civic Center Station (PK01) within 30 minutes will receive a discount for entry fee (15 Baht).
  • The fare rate will be regularly deducted from the EMV Card and the discount of the entry fee will be refunded to the card within 3 days after spending or within 7 working days (depending on the bank issuer)

How to use EMV Contactless Card in MRT Pink Line System
  1. Entry: Tap the Credit card or Debit card with the EMV Contactless symbol on EMV reader in the MRT Pink Line station that is installed beside the manual swing gate area in front of Ticket Office at both side of the station.
  2. Check the display screen of the EMV Contactless card reader after tapping the card successfully if the display screen turns green refer to this card can be used to payment fares for travel in MRT Pink Line system and can go through the manual swing gate to enter the system. But if passengers find that the display screen is red refer to this card cannot be payment fares for travel in MRT Pink Line system, please change a new card or contact the station staff.

3. Exit: Upon arrival at the destination station for exit, bring the same EMV Contactless card used to enter the system at the origin station and tap the card at the EMV Contactless card reader symbol “Exit” which was installed beside the manual swing gate area in front of Ticket Office at both side of the station. Check the display screen of the EMV Contactless card reader after tapping the card successfully if the display screen turns green refer to this card can be used to payment fares after traveling in MRT Pink Line system and can go through the manual swing gate to exit the system.
